Nestled in the hills of Kamogawa, on Japan’s Boso peninsular 100 kms from Tokyo, Uzumé is an edible forest garden system developed on permaculture principles to provide for the needs of its residents in a sustainable way. Come and experience Uzumé in the luxury of our private villa, Momiji.
Situated in a forest overlooking a serene private lake, Momiji is an exclusive and very private two story, two bedroom villa with a living space of 130m². The villa has one double bed and two singles, sleeping a total of four (additional futons available on request). Enjoy nature from our luxurious living room, dine indoors or on our outdoor deck, or perhaps spoil yourself in our rooftop wooden bath. Momiji also has extensive outdoor living areas beside the lake including multiple decks and a beautiful fireplace.
We provide a full range of high quality amenities you would find in a modern home including a fully applianced kitchen suitable for self-catering; gourmet coffee machine, food processor; air-conditioning in all rooms; a beautiful sofa, floor heating and fire place in the living room; organic soap, shampoo/conditioner, dryer and skin care; aroma therapy diffusers; superb beds with Siberian down quilts, towels and linen; Wifi, sound system connectable to phone; charcoal BBQ; clothes washer and dryer; use of bikes.
We provide a complimentary, self-prepare, gourmet breakfast using Uzumé and local produce including eggs, home made smoked bacon, our famous local tofu, local artisanal bread, honey and jams; greens, fruits and more. Enjoy your breakfast with freshly squeezed juice, home made teas and our home-roasted gourmet coffee.

We offer a complimentary pickup service from JR Awa-Kamogawa station, Kanaya ferry terminal and the Highway Oasis Furari bus terminal. Please request at the time of your booking.
Risks and Rules
Uzumé is located in a natural forest setting with all the dangers and inconveniences that come along with that, whether it be insects, snakes, mud, uneven and slippery surfaces, branches, a deep lake and narrow roads. We are not a well-groomed resort. We are also a private residence and ask that you respect the privacy of others. All guests are required to read and understand our Risks & Rules before making their reservation (click to view) and sign a Waiver of Liability upon arrival.
We highly recommend our complimentary tour of Uzumé which we can tailored to your level of knowledge and interest. We are happy to talk with you about tailoring programs connected to our systems at Uzumé. Additionally, we can arrange massages and also yoga sessions depending on availability.
There is much to do and see nearby Uzumé. Ride our complimentary bikes to the famous Oyama-Senmaida (stepped rice paddies) or perhaps to the beach. Take a 10 minute drive to a beautiful waterfall, or enjoy a hiking course through a forest.Practice glass blowing orperhaps enjoy picking fruits depending on the season. Please note car Navi does not work for our address (you will be taken to the wrong location). However, Google Maps is accurate when searched under “uzume”. Otherwise, we can meet you at a nearby location run by Muji called Minnami-No-Sato. Also, as the approach road to Uzumé is very narrow you may wish to park nearby and have us drive you the last 500m. Please note that as per our “Risks & Rules” driving to, and parking in or nearby Uzumé is at your own risk.
